Frappuccino was one of the first brands on Snapchat, leveraging a wildly active audience on social media. Thanks to our Frappuccino fanbase, we were able to analyse and understand what worked on the platform at the time. Snap Ads were still brand new and brands had a lot to learn. So, how could we stand out on a new digital platform while sticking to our Frappuccino roots? By going analog with stop motion– something unexpected.. Our first set of Rube Goldberg Machine-inspired ads performed so well that Starbucks came back to us for two more flights.
We found sweet spot at 6-8 seconds of length, handcrafted stop motion animation, and DIY sound design.
This ad format had just launched, so this information wasn’t available to the public, let alone advertisers. Our strategy team got those insights.
On top of that, we kept it fun– the core element of the Frappuccino social sphere.
