Starbucks Frappuccino
Social Campaigns 2015-2018

Let’s hit rewind– it’s the mid 2010’s and Starbucks is the brand-to-be on social with a cult following and cutting-edge content. I was part of the team behind it. Starbucks was my main account from my early days as a designer to my promotion into Art Direction at Swift. We made so. much. stuff. and had so much fun.

Frappuccino: the original Social Superstar.

We had an in-house content studio of incredibly kind, talented creatives and for these three years, my weeks consisted of concept/shoot/post over-and-over again. We’re talking 900 pieces of content a year.

I was behind the camera when the brand launched it’s Snapchat channel, literally on-the-floor drawing Frappuccinos and shooting content. We stayed ahead of the crowd by closely following the audience to determine our concepts for the next week. I worked on the core brand, too– but Frappuccino was my bread and butter. My whip and syrup. My green straw and dome lid. You get the jist. This is also where I learned the importance and power of synergy in a team, and mastered the art of process-optimisation. (It might not sound fun to you, but oh man, I live for it.)

An emoji keyboard, branded stickers, a Chatbot, the icon that was @TheRealPSL (RIP old Tumblr), GIFs upon GIFs, a 360 camera shoot inside of a tiny car.. the list goes on. Concept, design, art direction, post-production, stop-motion animation, you-name-it-I-got-to-do-it.

Here’s some of my favorite work from that time.

We celebrated the shape of the bottle and the pop of the cap with Bottled Frappuccino.

Our play on a “Spot the Difference”, the tastiest S’mores-themed Picnic Basket, and stepping out of the shadows with the Midnight Mint Mocha. Say that three times fast, or just scroll down and I’ll do it for you.

S’mores– the one that started the layered-drink craze and led to some really delicious leftovers on-set.

Yes, that’s a real pool floatie. No, you can’t have it.

You’re getting verrrrrry thirsty.

More fun with bottled. It goes where you go.
